Quick post to mark the passing of 2010

Dear 2010,

You've barely been gone for three hours, and here I am writing about you on the internet already. In fairness, this is mainly because I know that if I don't post when I think to post, I won't post at all.

Various conversations this week have helped me narrow down some of my 'Top [Thing] of 2010's, which I shall list here for your perusal and potential derision:

- Favourite Artist/New Addition to your Aural Pleasure: Ms Janelle MonĂ¡e

- Favourite Film: It's Complicated (I STAND BY THIS CHOICE)

- Favourite Book: I stole my momma's for this one, probably going with One Day as it's the last book I can remember reading and then pressing immediately into someone's hands going "readreadreadthisreadthisnowreadthisNOWPLEASE" (my mother's hands, not incidentally). I did read a lot of books over the summer though so I'm shocked that none of them stand out more.

- Favourite Song: last.fm says my most listened-to track is the Glee version of 'Faithfully', and who am I to argue with a website designed explicitly to monitor what I listen to, but 'Stay' by Hurts is a very close second and I only obtained that a month ago so I think given more time that might have topped the chart.

- Favourite TV show: I guess Glee is the one I'm most into? If I download a week's worth of television I would watch Glee first, that's telling. I'm not super into any of my current shows though, how sad. This year's favourite show award therefore goes to Battlestar Galactica, which I finally had the chance to finish after graduation. Maybe this year Helen will watch S3-5 too and I can discuss it all over again with somebody new. EXCITING. I wanna do a rewatch first though. :D

[eta] Tomorrow I will try and think of some New Year's Resolutions and also attempt to record them. HMM. Some no-brainers in there like "attempt to pass Master's", methinks!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: the aftermath

I know that, in putting together a reaction post a series of reaction posts, I am beginning to come to terms with The End in a way I just swore I was happy to avoid doing. But I also know that if I don't take the time now to describe what I am thinking and how I am feeling, I will regret it. So, with a heavy heart, I begin the journey.

Part one: a prologue, if you will. General reaction and current emotional state. Contains some very small spoilers, and a bunch of things which could lead you to figure out who might survive and who might not, but no actual plot-related commentary. That's for Part two. )

Coincidentally (believe that if you will): happy birthday, JK, and THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you have given us.

And, well, because if I didn't type it, I'd still be thinking it. )
